vortexau's motorcycles in 1979

vortexau's motorcycles in 1979

November 1979 - had a Moto Guzzi 850-T, a BMW R-75/6, and a chopper based on a Honda XL350. Owned that Guzzi for twenty years! The R-75/6 was my third BMW . . . in 1971 had a R-50/5, and two years later had a customised R-25. <!--break-->

The R-75/6 was an American model with R-60 final-drive ratio. Its top speed was 120mph, at which point it was indicating in the red zone on the tachometer!

The ex-XL350 chopper wore a king-and-queen seat in a dropped frame. The swing arm was lengthed, and the rear shocks were shorter than original. On the highway it handled well, and it even took dirt roads in its stride. It had 21" street rubber on the front, and a 4.00x18 street tyre on the rear. The rear sprocket was 5 teeth less than original. Later on it had the original front turn-indicators mounted in the mirror threads.
